Your API wallet
Add money, cap what a key may spend, and see where it went.
The API wallet holds US dollars for the API's paid calls: sending audio, asking questions and rewriting notes. It's prepaid, so nothing ever charges a card by itself. You have one for your personal keys; an organization has its own for its keys. What costs what is on Paying for the API.

The wallet is the card at the top: its balance, and what calls still running have set aside.
Choose an amount
$10, $25, $50 or $100, or type any whole amount from $5 to $500 in Other.
Pay on our website
Choose Add and Taad opens the checkout on our website. Once you've paid, Settings shows the purchase above the wallet, and the money is there to use. It stays until it's used.

Only an organization's owner adds money to its wallet: the Workspace choice at the top of the card switches to the organization.
How a call is paid
- Before a paid call runs, its price is set aside ("held by calls still running"). When it's done, it's charged what it really took and the rest is let go. If something fails on our side, nothing is charged.
- Your plan's minutes can go first. On a paid plan, audio sent with a personal key can use your plan's weekly minutes before the wallet: see where the money comes from.
- The wallet can dip below zero, by the extra of a heavier call only. Your next top-up covers it first.
- When it runs low (under $1) and when it's empty, we email you, once a week each, and send the
usage.balance_lowandusage.exhaustedwebhook events. - When it's empty, paid calls answer
402 insufficient_balance; free calls keep working while you have a paid plan.
Caps
Keys have no spending cap unless you set one. Give any key a weekly spending cap when you make it, or later under Manage (Changing a key). Once it's spent, that key's paid calls answer 402 key_cap_reached until Monday, 00:00 UTC. Each key shows what it has spent this week, against its cap.
Seeing what you spend
Wallet history, under the wallet, lists every top-up and charge, with the key that spent it. The Request log, at the end of the page, lists every call of the last 30 days with its answer and what it cost; filter it by key, or to what succeeded, what was refused and our errors.
