# Speakers (/help-center/audio-recording/speaker-diarization)

Taad tells the voices in a recording apart and labels each turn with who said it. Until you name someone they're **Speaker 1**, **Speaker 2** and so on.

## Name a speaker [#name-a-speaker]

Open the recording's **Speakers** panel and choose **Rename** beside a voice, or name it from the transcript. Every line that voice said takes the name.

From the same panel you can:

- **Mark which voice is yours**, so the notes know what you said and promised.
- **Join two voices** that are really one person.

## The same voice, the same person [#the-same-voice-the-same-person]

Once you've named a voice, Taad recognises it in later recordings, so a regular colleague is named for you.

## While you record [#while-you-record]

The live transcript shows who's speaking as it happens, and the side shows how much each person has talked so far.
